ICE Reviewer

Throughout 2024, I have been directly involved in the professional review of 31 candidates that are seeking to become Chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

My Story

In today's dynamic and ever-evolving engineering landscape, my pursuit of professional recognition has become more important than ever. However, I recognize that the journey to achieving professional recognition is not a solitary one. It is a journey shared with those who have walked similar paths and who have achieved their own qualifications.

As more candidates want to approach their professional milestone, I see the growing importance of ICE reviewers. This role offers immense value to both aspiring engineers and to my own professional development.

Becoming an ICE reviewer is both rewarding and essential. Having personally navigated the rigorous process toward professional recognition, I understand the significance of the role. My experience allows me to guide candidates as they work toward obtaining one of the world's most respected professional qualifications.

As a reviewer, I derive great satisfaction from giving back to my professional community. It also presents an opportunity for my own professional growth. The role enables me to enhance my knowledge, not just of my own field, but also of the candidates I assess. Through the process, I gained exposure to a diverse range of projects, technological innovations, and novel problem-solving approaches, broadening my perspective and keeping me attuned to industry developments.

Being an ICE reviewer challenges me to think critically, assess competencies, and sharpen my interviewing skills—valuable abilities for anyone's professional journey. Additionally, the role contributes to my continuous professional development (CPD) requirements and introduces me to a global network of professionals, expanding my professional circle and fostering meaningful connections.
